LYNC Institute A human-centered movement
See Differently. Respond Differently.
See the human behind the behavior.
LYNC is a practical framework for understanding what may be happening beneath behavior, and choosing a response that creates the conditions for progress.
What grounds the work
An applied human framework.

A different question can change the next moment.
The instinct is to react or label. The Power Pause creates enough space to see the human and choose what happens next.
Power Pause
1 / 3
Someone you care about goes quiet when you ask how their day went.
-
01 Pause
What is happening?
They are quiet and looking away. Start with what you can observe, rather than assuming they do not care.
-
02 Reset
What might be driving this?
They may be tired, overwhelmed, or not ready to talk. Leave room for what you do not yet know.
-
03 Choose
What response could create the conditions for progress?
Try: “Would you like some space, or would it help if I stayed with you?”
A founder perspective
LYNC was never built to become another training program.
Founders Meredith Bieri and Casey Coughlin share why LYNC began, what makes the Framework different, and why meaningful change starts with how humans experience one another.
The LYNC Framework
Shared language. Stronger connections.
The LYNC Framework is a practical sequence for examining interactions, and choosing what comes next.
LYNC Values in Action
A shared foundation for how we think, decide, and relate to one another.
The LYNC Model
A practical approach to understanding behavior and responding with intention.
Triangle of Support
The individual, their network of support, and the surrounding system.
LYNC Check-In
The Framework in action, bringing reflection into a real interaction.
The LYNC Model
The human comes first.
A universal language that connects us. Beginning with one human at the center, the Framework creates a ripple effect that can be profound and transformative.
Step 1 of 5: Safety.
LYNC in action
The Framework comes alive between people.
The Framework is practiced in the moments people learn, reflect, connect, and choose what happens next.

Testimonial excerpt
I find the Lync Institute approach to TIC fits in seamlessly with our curriculum and adds a much-needed focus on an often-overlooked aspect of patient-centered hearing healthcare. Importantly, our students now adopt a TIC-mindset when providing care in their clinical settings!

As the Director of the Doctor of Audiology program at Northwestern University and instructor in the program, I strive to provide our students with opportunities to develop not only the clinical knowledge and skills they need to practice at the top of their licenses, but also the knowledge and skills required to provide truly patient-centered hearing healthcare. A graduate of our program reached out to me with an opportunity to meet with Meredith Bieri and Casey Coughlin from Lync Institute to learn about their work around trauma-informed care and to consider ways to incorporate TIC in our AuD curriculum. Despite the prevalence of trauma in our patient populations and the public writ large, trauma-informed care is not a commonly taught topic in academic programs. I invited Meredith and Casey to speak to our first- and second-year AuD students about the tenets and importance of incorporating TIC in the audiology clinic this fall, and I intend to bring them back every year, if possible! I find the Lync Institute approach to TIC fits in seamlessly with our curriculum and adds a much-needed focus on an often-overlooked aspect of patient-centered hearing healthcare. Importantly, our students now adopt a TIC-mindset when providing care in their clinical settings!

humans positively impacted through the LYNC Framework.
Real change rarely begins with a grand gesture. It begins when one human sees another differently and carries that response into the next interaction.
